Hutton Players present a poignant drama with humour set in a Cornish village in 1936.

A small village in Cornwall.  Two sisters live in their cottage.  The year is 1936.

Village life is smooth and calm for the sisters, the local doctor and the rest of the inhabitants.

New arrivals come from outside to disturb the rhythms of village life.  For the sisters, the arrivals raise questions about how they have spent their lives and what fulfillment there has been for them.

This play is a touching and poignant story of women, questioning their lives and feelings of emptiness.

The tale was originally a short story that was turned into a film starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith.  It has now been rewritten as a hugely popular play which produces very moving moments from a drama with a large amount of humour.

Produced in association with Samuel French.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Brentwood Arts Council.
