“ No Child’s Play”

An exhibition portraying the lives endured by children during the Holocaust, a production of Museums Division, Yad Vashem – the

World Holocaust Remembrance Centre.

Thursday 25th January 9:30 – 4:00 pm, Friday 26th January 9:30 – 4 pm and Saturday 27th January 10:30 – 1 pm at Brentwood Theatre

With an opportunity to hear, on Thursday 25th & Friday 26th from 11 am – 12, German Jewish Refugee, Herman Rothman in conversation about his remarkable life. Arriving in Britain in 1939 Herman eventually served in the Intelligence Corps of HM Forces, later interrogating high-ranking Nazi War Criminals, being instrumental in discovering Hitler’s Will & establishing information about the Führer’s death. His book, “Hitler’s Will” will be available.

To hear him (during which there will be no active viewing of the Exhibition) arrival is recommended between 10.40 & 10.55 as regretfully, it will not be possible for later arrivals to enter after the interview has commenced. Guest Speaker – Ruth Barnett

Ruth was born in Berlin, Germany and arrived in England in 1939 aged 4 on the Kindertransport. Her Jewish father escaped to Shanghai whilst her Gentile mother, having taken part in the only mass public demonstration by Germans in the Third Reich against deportation of Jews, went into hiding until 1945. Ruth, eventually becoming a Secondary schoolteacher, then a psychotherapist, having converted to Judaism, marring her Jewish boyfriend & having a family, will be telling her personal story. Her books will be available for purchase, including “Person of No Nationality” portraying the struggles of a displaced person searching for her identity.

Pay What You Can

Brentwood Theatre Company is delighted to announce this year’s ‘Pay What You Can’ tickets to our annual children’s Christmas show, Narnia.

Narnia has had a fantastic response from the schools and families who have already visited, described as “absolutely amazing” by Hornchurch Life. Thanks to sponsorship from the Brentwood Breakfast Rotary Club, Brentwood Theatre Company is once again able to subsidies ticket prices to make live theatre accessible to all families.

The tickets are for Thursday 28th December at 6pm, and are strictly limited, so please call our box office volunteers on 01277 200305 for details of how to book. Everyone is welcome, and tickets for this performance cost whatever you can afford, whether it is £1, £2 or £5.

The show continues to run until December 30th, with limited tickets available to what has become the best selling Christmas show produced by Brentwood Theatre Company in its 17 year history. Book now to avoid disappointment and join Aslan’s Army in this epic adventure to save Narnia from the White Queen and her endless winter.

Too cold for Calendar Girls, but we do have Ladies in Lavender!

16 – 18 of November, the award-winning Hutton Players return with Ladies in Lavender, a poignant drama set in a Cornish village in 1936.

A touchingly humorous story of two sisters questioning their lives and feelings of emptiness, made famous by the 2004 film starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. Village life is smooth and calm until new arrivals disturb their rhythm. Tickets are £13/ £11.50 conc.
